THE 2020 JACKSON COUNTY PRO RODEO HAS BEEN CANCELLED!
Born and raised in Ellijay, Georgia, Mooney's career began by accident in 1984 when in college, he stepped in for the scheduled rodeo announcer who had a heart attack. In short time, Mooney went from being a contestant to one of the best announcers on the circuit with announcing accolades that include 2-time NFR, 5-time Calgary Stampede, 5-time Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo, 10-time High School Rodeo Finals and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association Announcer of the Year.
Unlike most rodeo announcers tucked away in the crows nest, Mooney is easily recognized horseback in the center of the arena. Mooney prefers paints, and has carried his black and white horse Flash for the past eight years. Flash watches Roger's back and keeps him out of danger when it comes to the bulls and broncs; in exchange, he knows there are always plenty of treats when he's back at the barn and might even steal a few bites of popcorn from an unsuspecting young rodeo fan.
Roger's wife, Ashley, joins in the production side of the rodeo performance providing the music and setting the atmosphere for "the greatest show on dirt". When not rodeoing, Mooney can be found in the recording studio making radio and TV commercials, raising registered Angus cattle or playing with his two kids, Cash and Morgan.
Dusti was born and raised in a rodeo family. Her father owned a small rodeo company in Southern Illinois where she carried flags and barrel raced.
Dusti caught the Roman riding and trick riding bug at the age of 11 during a family vacation to Branson, MO and Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. She proceeded to go back home and work tirelessly and grew into one of the fastest and most exciting acts in rodeo today.
The past 12 years Dusti was the featured Roman rider in Pigeon Forge, TN and traveled to rodeos moderately.
She is now retired from the show and is very excited to perform on the road full-time!
From rags to riches, you will meet the trick horse extraordinaire, Mr. Bojangles. Bojangles, survived hurricane Katrina and was rescued by animal trainer and entertainer, Jerry Thornton. He has become a world, famous liberty and trick horse putting on an unforgettable show.
